Hello George, I noticed earlier in the year you talked about getting an EXODUS cymbal endorsement. Did you ever get your cymbals? I got excepted into their artist endorsement program yesterday and they sent me an e-mail that smells like a scam, asking for money up front by way of western union or paypal. The fishy part was they said I only has 5 days to send them the money or they would terminate my agreement. It wasn't a personal e-mail either it just said "dear applicant" and the person writing it never even mentions his or her name. I'm definitely hesitant in moving forward and wanted to see what you thought, or if you ever got your cymbals, if so do you like them?
Thanks a lot |

Never heard of them....never even seen those, where are they from???
Sounds like a shitty deal and a scum, i would stay away... Do you really need an endorsement? It's a big commitment, please think twice before you get into this dance. I know so many drummers who got a deal, never did anything for the company (not even a logo) and the company drop them for good...now the door is closed for them. |

I agree; if that's the case, it doesn't sound good. I'm aware that it's a big commitment, and it's not like I'm going to be like "I just started a band! Time to find an endorsement!" or anything, because that would be foolish. My aim is to write plenty of material and make a few demos/splits, and then consider this kind of stuff. But if I decide on a bigger company, I'll wait to see if my band ends up anywhere and if we release any more material. It's definitely not a big deal now, but I think it may help later, depending on my band situation. Keep it metal!

I'm endorsed by EXODUS, and i got my cymbals with no problem. The process sounds like a scam, but it's not

The problem with this business model is that they don't really give you very many benefits, if any. Unless of course you do all their work for them, and the word "endorsement" and that practically anyone can get them (or at least that was the case in the beginning) makes it sound good and automatically spreads the word. What they're really doing is selling cymbals for an unproportionally small price reduction compare to what you do for them IF you do a shit ton. Until that point, you're still paying full price while they make it appear like you're not.

You do get more than a small discount depending on your background as a musician, because as we all know, the companies need some benefits, even thought they don't ask for much, just to expose and play their cymbals (Publicity) The company is growing slowly and i hope they focus more on somethings i've noticed that need to be worked on, either way they are good cymbals but everyone has their own point of view. |

This company will endorse your mom, kid, anyone. There is no artist endorsement, it is a bullshit business model that tugs on the penises of young drummers.;( lol

And after checking them out, which I did not do when I commented/joked earlier, they look like they are trying to do something good. I just hope the cymbals can hold up to professional abuse--- if they do, they might do well. ![]() BTW, your response to my comment is probably the best and most mature I have read in a long time. You are a cool dude! |

Honestly, Exodus makes some pretty interesting cymbals and I don't doubt their quality or performance. But in all seriousness, look at their artist lineup on that facebook page. Can anybody name one of those guys or have ever seen them anywhere else other than online? The answer is probably no.
It's like Jim said, they're playing off the fact that young drummers, as most of the artists on that page are, want to feel like a professional because the company that sold them cymbals took a picture of them and photoshopped it into a pre-made background. Not very much promotional effort going on there. Think of it this way, would I really be endorsed by Meinl cymbals simply because they have a picture of me holding their product online, but they have never done personal works, free discounting or signature products, tour supplying or any other form of artist promotion? No. I'm still just some guy on the internet that happens to own their product. |
