My spine is messed up from a car accident 5 years ago, earlier on it was a struggle to recover and playing drums feeling out of shape. Maybe its ironic but I can pretty easily play songs and things that before the injuries I thought I could never do.
Pot smoking never affected my air, fitness or energy while playing drums. Then again I'm used to playing messed up. Like I said earlier I don't drink liquor, don't take other drugs or smoke cigarettes. I have smoked cigarettes in the past and played drums. They definitely affected my lungs and gave a tightness in my chest, so I quit those 2 years ago.
The only negative things about pot I can think of is I constantly have to prioritize everything else above it. Practicing and trying to buy drum gear is still my #1 hobby.

I smoke and drink but i know when business is needed to get done. Everyone in my band smokes but they aren't fucking sweating and fucking blasting like i am. So i get ripped on my personal time and not band practice.

p.s-Maybe i should find some more serious bandmates lol

I just recently got into my first band as a drummer (been playing bass for 15 years) and since I know I am not at my best while practicing stoned I did not partake for the first few practices while the guitarist did.

at our most recent practice I caved and actually didn't feel as "off" as I thought I would. Some parts I had been tensing up during sober felt more relaxed and we also did some noodling around and came up with some good riffs

FWIW, I still wouldn't before a gig but shit.... it's only practice!

i'll toke here and there .. NEVER BEFORE A SHOW, NEVER BEFORE PRACTICE.
when I do smoke i just listen to music and am somehow able to focus more on it and hear intricate things I never noticed before ... and there's also always a guy in a black robe sitting yoga style that i see out of the corner of my right eye lol (trying to figure that one out)

Here in Hellgium we play stoned and hangovered, we can go up to 260 bpm traditionnal blasts, and the weed doesn't affect our playing at all, We CANNOT perform drunk, but stoned is okay, sometimes if only high it might be difficult to get your breathing sequense right from all the laughing, so stoned okay, I've even noticed I don't even sweat when playing with a hangover, maybe body is to lazy at the time to start sweating while playing drums

(oh yeah, on a show, I just smoke a 12" in the afternoon, it gets me calm before the show, during show, I have no problems at all, after show THC-levels tend to drop too quick, so we defenitely need a refill there ) life's to short to not enjoy whatever grows in my garden and I'm also able to play guitar solos while stoned which I can't when sober sinds I'm a drummer, just try it : 13" sigar, Guitar with floyd rose, stereo delays, phasers and other kinds of spacy effects and you'll sound like Ozric tentacles soon enough !

To each his own but let's not get it confused weed is not a drug it is a plant! That was put on this earth for me to smoke hahahahaha ok seriously tho sometimes I play well when I'm high other times I'm way sloppy haven't smoked in awhile but it use to be like my bread and butter lol. It keeps me open minded now so I listen to all sorts of other music although metal is still the closest to my heart. I just ask people to be open minded and most of you are which is awesome thank you! Metal heads are the shit and so is mariganja haaaaaaa
