ive been drumming for a year and a half and have progressed with using youtube vids and shit and having a band helped me alot. my guitarist used to play drums so he helped me. and the fact that i played guitar for 10 years has helped with my timing. but i figured since im layed off im gona do the workouts and do them everyday. the gk dvd is the shit.
by the way anyone can (if you want to) post in this thread i dont mind give me pointers and such so here goes..... -started out by warming up just doin whatever, with double bass and just some regular beats. -day one of 16 week pretty easy... heh -worked on posture.. i seem to slouch while playing so worked on that the whole time -worked on some slower tempo blasts. im not that fast probably around 120-140bpm trying both single foot and 2 foot. -hand and foot 1s/2s/3s/4s -alternating singles between hands and feet at 80 bpm -3 speed lvls double bass. 100,120,140. my max right now is 160 but sloppy -worked on endurace at 140 playing all around the set. was around a hour and 45 mins total Last edited by dbumdj1; 02-06-2010 at 03:44 AM. |

today spend about 45 mins goin through some workouts
-warm up with doubles at 100,120,140bpm -day 2 of 16week- went longer than supposed to cause the 32nds were messing me up. kinda got the hang of it. -hand and foot 1s,2s,3s,4s -alternating hand foot singles at 80 bpm -worked on some blasts at 120 and 140 -jammed for a few at 180 with spurts of doubles -did some endurance at 145 -posture the whole practice

i read up on the flat foot technique and realized thats kinda what i have been doing but not really.. so i focused on useing the technique the proper way and i like it. it feals right.
todays practice -warm up feet at slow tempo -stretched -played at 100,120,140,150, and 160bpm using all 16ths and playin fills and stuff in there -16week 3rd day(the 32nd nots came easier with the flatfoot was very happy with this) -alternate hand and leg singles at 80 bpm -hand and foot 1s,2s,3s,4s at 140bpm -different blasts at 120 and 140 bpm -endurance 140 and 150bpm 16ths doublebass 5min each(the last min of the 150 burned like hell in the hip flexors yet it felt a lil easier and was in a comfy zone) -derek roddy @140, holy shit this was intense i was having a hard time when it came to the last 10 min with the hand and foot going at the same time. all in all was a great sweaty workout for a lil longer than 2 hours

completely changed my kits set up... put the 3 rack toms a lil lower and flatter raised my floor 2in or so put it more lvl with my snare. adjusted the cymbals made them higher better spacing to hit and more flat. set up one my dw5k pedals with a electric pad with a ribbon crasher type sound. set up all my mics and what not....
ok to the practice -jammed for about a hour figuring out the new set up. lots of double bass no set tempo just having fun -stretched -derek roddy workout at 140bpm (its fun but damn it kills me the last 10 min just fuck me up heh) -worked on my hand technique cause of getting blisters after the roddy workout i was beat i just couldnt do any more heh

was messing around and figured id build some toe risers for my axis.. have a bunch of 1/4inch alluminum stock and i made some.. heh took about a hour to make. and let me tell you it made a huge difference!!! was doin double bass at 160 easy woot!!
the practice -messed around at 150 160 -stretched -did feet for awhile at 100 -16week day 4 -blasted -alternate feet and hands -alternate feet hands 1s2s3s4s -jammed some more -wrote a song both guitar and drums and recorded. lots of blasting and doublebass at 150 put a decent breakdown in it heh was about 2.5 hours

practice included workouts and band practice
workouts -jammed with whatever blasting and double bass -16week 5th day -lots of single stroke stuff with hands and practice pad -paradiddles on pad -worked mostly on hand technique and posture showed my singer the new song i wrote and he loved it.. we rerere recorded it and it came out very nicely.. lyrics are not structured yet but ill post it up here when its finished to see what u guys think.

replaced my tom skins with g2 clears and wow they are awsome. pulled off and reseated the res side also and got the best tunning ive ever had with my set. got a new aquarian superkick 2 for my right kick, it was old needed it.
i didnt really practice i just kinda messed around for a hour or so roughly 150 bpm.

yesterday took a break
today -warmup a lil not much -alt singles -alt 1s2s3s4s -16week 6thday very fun by the way!! -some blasts -singles hands -150bpm messin around. getting really solid with blasting and doublesbass at this speed i think its time to work more on 160 about 45min total

not much enthusiasm today.. its weird playing with no cymbals...
-warmed up with doubles matching hands and goin around the set -a small derek roddy workout at 150 -lots of double bass at 150 -16week day7 (i dont know what was wrong with my feet today doin this but i couldnt get the 32nds forsome reason) -messed around the set mostly about 30-45mins i just got bored and stopped

yesterday worked on doublebass and blasts alot. various tempos and went over some ideas and guitar riffs with the singer. jammed some decapitated and gojira total was about 6 hours on and off the drums
today -doublebass warm up at 110 -doublebass at 150 and 160 -fills and blasts at 150 -16week day 7 again doin the different ones mess me up. so im gona keep at it -started noticing my left wrist was sore as i moved around the toms was about 50 mins
