That's the way I set up my hi hat stand too. And I'm also getting questions like that.

Default I finale finished DrumRoom

I have finale finished my new drum/jam room and have my setup just the way I want!!! Just put new drumheads on & cleand my cymbals. Im so happy now that I can play and start practicing again. All thats left is hooking up my triggers & mic's and maybe invest in a good camera so I can start makeing video's!

Looks great man, may i ask how good does the foam opn the walls work for soundproofing, i had tried soundproofing my band room with a layer of "soundproof" rubber and 2nd sheet of drywall but im still getting complaints from my neighbors. Ive been thinking about buying some of the foam but im kinda sceptical

The foam is Auralex acoustic treatment, its not really for sound proofing. It mainly cuts the higher frequency out and makes mid and lower frequency's a bit more solid and punchy sounding. I basically built a room inside a room of my garage. I used 1/2 in. sheet rock, then a sheet of Quit Brace sound board, on both sides of the studs with no insulation in between. The walls are spaced about 2 in. away from the existing walls of my garage, including the ceiling. I can stand at the street and faintly hear my drums. I have had no complaints yet, but I haven't played my drums past 9 PM yet.

My friends have told me that there is no way people could hear me play in their home and have tried convincing me that I should be able to play late at night without worrying about the cops being called. I guess I need to play late one night and find out.
But I would not invest in the foam for sound proofing, people will still be able to hear your drums, mainly your bass drum. It would help a little, but to much of it will make your drums sound dead.
